About the department
The Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry conducts specialized education for complete oral healthcare of pediatric patients, ranging from infancy to adolescence including patients with special health requirements.
The department maintains a pioneering research facility called “The Centre for Early Childhood Caries Research,” which specializes in treating the significant dental condition of Early Childhood Caries (ECC) prevalent throughout all of Asia. Interdisciplinary connections with Pediatrics, Plastic Surgery, as well as Oncology, Neonatology, and Gynecology, Cleft Lip, Palate Surgery, and other dentistry disciplines, help expand clinical education and research possibilities through focused service offerings for patients.
Clinical Services
For children with dental fear and anxiety, safe and painless treatment under conscious sedation is ensured. Additionally, comprehensive dental rehabilitation is undertaken for patients under general anaesthesia (GA) or conscious sedation for both young children and patients with specific healthcare requirements.
